We extend a warm welcome for you to join us on Sunday, September 10 at 9:30 for our annual Fresh Start Potluck Breakfast and worship at 11:00, which will include the sermon "Last Things: You Got Civilized" delivered by Rev. David J. Hanna. The Apostle Paul said it this way: “…this one thing I do – forgetting the things which are behind, and reaching out for the things which are in front, I press on toward the upward calling of Christ.” Now, it is easy for us to understand the need to have closure on past hurts and failures and sins. But, Paul, in this passage, tells us to close the gate on our past accomplishments. Paul writes that Christian people must forget what they have done including successes, and focus on what we still need to do.
On Sunday, September 10, at 9:30 a.m. you are invited to come set your internal compass in the direction of God’s wisdom. Enjoy food, conversation, games and a brief skit while learning about some of the Christian Education Sunday Morning opportunities available for you!
Worship this Sunday, September 3, moves to 11:00 a.m. and will include the Sacrament of Holy Communion. We extend a warm welcome for all who wish to join us. This week, Rev. David J. Hanna will deliver the sermon "Last Things: Teach Us." It can easily happen to us with the Lord’s Prayer. So dulled by the routine, repeating the words, if not careful we can miss the power and sacredness of the prayer. And before we know it, we toss it carelessly aside on a pile of humdrum expressions. The Lord’s Prayer is a treasure, which we hold in our hands. Jesus gave it to us. Please note Christian Education programs will kick-off next Sunday, September 10 with a Fresh Start Breakfast. We look forward to seeing you on Sunday!
We invite you to join us for worship, on Sunday August 27 at 10:00 a.m. During Sunday's service, Seminarian Ben Fitzgerald-Fye will deliver the sermon "One Body": Apostle Paul reminds the faithful that though we exist as one body in Christ, we are a people of many functions. In our time of rugged individualism, we are good at understanding the call to our individual functions but often lose sight of the call to community that comes through Christ and through the writings of Paul. Mere cooperation is not enough. We need each other and we are called to celebrate the complexity that comes with this need.
