We invite you to join us for worship, education and fellowship at Calvary, where you will experience a church community filled with God’s love and a commitment to welcoming all.

At the 10:00 a.m. worship service, Seminarian Ben Fitzgerald-Fye will deliver the sermon Good Soil:

Jesus often relays important lessons in parables. Here we hear the account of the sower and the good soil that is needed to bear grain.  This is a story of the types of faith/understanding that populate our communities and that exist in our own faith journeys. We can also see this as an illustration of the evolution or growth that leads us to the deeper faith that develops in the good soil of understanding the totality of God, God’s Kingdom, and God’s Word. It is in this good soil that we find a faith that endures hardship, rises above the worldly cynicism and materialism of human brokenness and begins to bear the deeper fruits of faith and multiplies the goodness inspired in us by God’s love.

Following the service, everyone is invited to gather in the Chalice Room next to the Sanctuary for fellowship.

Faith Alive! Practical Wisdom for Putting Love in Action: A Study of the Letter of James

This Sunday is the second in a four-week study of the Letter of James from 9:00 – 9:45 in the dining room led by Rev. Richard Cassel.  Traditionally believed to be written by James the brother of Jesus, this New Testament book is a collection of Proverb-like teachings, based on the teachings of Jesus, especially the Sermon on the Mount. It contains practical teaching of ways we put our Christian faith and love into action.

Everyone is welcome to attend!
