Justin Lee, author of the book Torn: Rescuing the Gospel from the Gays vs. Christians Debate, strives to build bridges and understanding between Christians and the LGBT Community while respecting differing views.
On Monday, November 14, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m, Calvary Presbyterian Church will host Lee, who has been interviewed on the PBS news hour and is in demand as a speaker both nationally and internationally.
This is a community event open to anyone who wishes to learn more.
Lee grew up as a Southern Baptist and struggled to reconcile what he had been taught with his own experience of being gay. His book chronicles that struggle, which led to the founding of the Gay Christian Network.
GCN is unique among Christian and LGBT affirming organizations in its insistence on welcoming and respecting people with differing views regarding same-sex relationships. Justin believes that faithful Christians can disagree about whether gay people can enter into monogamous, covenanted relationships blessed by God or are called to celibacy.
GCN works to equip churches, educate people, and advocate for greater acceptance of LGBT people, while striving to build bridges of understanding between Christians and the LGBT community.
