The UKirk, or university church, is an approach to collegiate ministry supported by and based on the core values of the Presbyterian Church USA. For us here at Calvary Presbyterian, the Calvary UKirk is a natural extension of our dedication to Christ’s welcome and the hospitality that has become a driving force behind the work and ministry of our church.
Calvary UKirk is a campus ministry open to all students of IUP. We are a ministry that encourages participation regardless of where you might be on your own spiritual journey and we hope to build a safe place for spiritual development, questions, and reflection. We are also a ministry that encourages the full participation of all without regard for race, gender, gender identity, national origin, sexual orientation, religion, or any of the other descriptors and labels that define the beauty of God’s diverse creation.
We will hold weekly group meetings to share food, prayers, and fellowship and we will work to become an active presence on the IUP campus and in the wider Indiana community through social engagement and mission. As we work and talk together, we will engage the issues and the topics that impact the student community, the faith community, the local community, and the global community.
Let’s be clear that Calvary UKirk is a welcoming and inclusive ministry with no pre-conditions on membership, leadership, or participation. When we say that all are welcome, we mean it.
