Each Sunday during Lent, we are examining Luke, chapter 15, where Jesus paints a portrait of God in three parables.
The parables often hold surprising, always insightful truths. They provide timeless messages that remain relevant for us today.
In the sermon series Lost and Loved, we are considering how these parables help us unravel how we get lost and what it means to be loved.
This week, the second Sunday in Lent, Rev. David J. Hanna will deliver the sermon Lost & Loved: By Accident based on readings from Psalm 103 and Luke 15:8-10.
In Jesus’ parable of the lost coin, the coin is lost by accident. It’s a precious thing in the eyes of the owner yet the coin falls to the floor and disappears. People get lost this way. They are the casualties of circumstances.
Our worship service is held each Sunday at 11:00 a.m. and includes beautiful musical contributions from our organist and Chancel Choir along with a lively children’s sermon enjoyed by all.
Following the service, everyone is invited to join together in the Chalice Room for fellowship and light refreshments.
Christian Education Series in the Spotlight – 9:45 a.m. in the Dining Room
A special six-part adult education class is seeking to help us use the days of Lent to grow in our discipleship as followers of Christ.
Some of the areas of discipleship to be considered are growth in faith, hope and love, the practice of forgiveness, the life of holiness and how we can be Christ’s disciples in contemporary secular society and doing it all alive in the joy-filled Holy Spirit of Christ.
The class will use the Scriptures and the book, Being Disciples: Essentials of the Christian Life by Rowan Williams, former Archbishop of Canterbury.
Rev. Richard Cassel is facilitating the class.
To get the most out of the class, we suggest you review the class schedule and read the suggested chapters and Scriptures prior to the class. Download the class schedule here.
All regular Christian Education classes and child care will continue to be provided for children and adults alike. You can view the schedule here.
Child care is provided by a trained childcare giver and church members every Sunday morning beginning at 9:30 a.m.
