Newcomers are always welcome to attend Calvary’s Christian Education programs, which are held each Sunday morning from September – May prior to worship. Our members will be pleased to help you find your way to the class locations.
At times, we have church wide events held during the time for Christian Education. Advance notification is made through the Church bulletin and Upcoming Events on the website.
Corner Cafe, Adults, Prayers and Squares, 9:30 – 10:30 a.m.
All are welcome to join the enthusiastic and enlightening discussions of the Corner Café. Help us explore current events from a Christian perspective using the online Wired Word material. Coffee and tea are always available at the Corner Cafe!
Growing Together: A Class for Parents, Heritage Room, 9:30 – 10:30 a.m.
If you have children at home and are looking for a place to connect with other parents while exploring topics related to your Christian faith and parenting in a smaller group setting, this class is for you!
Series in the Spotlight
Periodically, one of our adult facilitators or a guest lecturer will present a special series on a topic or book of interest. These classes will be announced in all adult classes, and advertised in our church newsletter, bulletin and website. They are offered simultaneously with all other Christian Education classes in a separate location.
Bible Study, Dining Room, 9:30 – 10:30 a.m.
New as of Fall 2018, this class facilitated by student pastor/Ukirk campus minister, Ben Fitzgerald-Fye will provide opportunity for reflection and discussion on a variety of Bible passages. Class begins at 9:30 a.m. in the Dining Room.
Youth Study Group, Youth Room, 9:30 – 10:30 a.m.
Youth in 6-12 grades and their leaders will embark on a journey for meaning and identity each Sunday morning from 9:30 – 10:15 a.m. in the 3rd floor youth room. The Generation Why curriculum used for this class encourages youth to ask hard questions and helps them encounter Scripture in search of answers. In a time of violence, injustice, materialism, and new pressures, Generation Why offers a different point of view.
Calvary Kids for ages 4-11 (or 5th grade), East Classroom, 9:30 – 10:15 a.m.
The class will use Growing in Grace and Gratitude, a curriculum rooted in the foundation of Presbyterian identity where God’s grace and our gratitude are the heartbeat of our faith, life, and worship. Children will receive an invitation to discipleship through the reading of Bible stories, fun activities, prayer and singing. This curriculum inspires children to learn and practice hospitality, generosity, and love; and reaches beyond Sunday morning, encouraging children to live their lives as an expression of God’s grace.
Children’s Choir, East Classroom, 10:15 – 10:45 a.m.
Children in Kindergarten through fifth grade are invited to share the gift of song! Join Calvary friends for this musical lesson and performance prep time right after Christian Education at 10:15 a.m. on Sunday mornings. More information is available on our music ministry page.
