This Sunday at our 11:00 a.m. worship service, we celebrate the Baptism of the Lord with the Sacrament of Holy Communion

On this day, we not only remember Jesus’ baptism, but we celebrate our own: the baptism we share with Christ.

Student Pastor Ben Fitzgerald-Fye will deliver the sermon Wilderness and Water.

The Baptism of the Lord is a story framed by the emergence of John the Baptist and bookended by images of wilderness. Let’s consider for a moment that this wondrous image of Christ’s baptism in Mark’s Gospel takes place between John appearing in the wilderness and Jesus being driven into the wilderness. “Wilderness” is a potent term in Scripture that refers to both a place and a state of being…The arrival of John and the Baptism of Jesus call us to brave the wilderness in search of something bigger and to emerge from wilderness changed and renewed people.

Rev. David J. Hanna will preside for the Sacrament of Holy Communion.

Following the service we invite you to join us in the Chalice room next to the Sanctuary for fellowship.

We look forward to seeing you on Sunday!
