Calvary Presbyterian Church has been ministering to the Indiana community since 1807, when our congregation was incorporated as First Presbyterian Church. God is sovereign in our lives and we honor the diversity of God’s creation – Many voices united in one Spirit.
We warmly welcome everyone to the worship and ministry life of our church. We hope you will return often and it is our prayer that you will encounter here the deep richness of God’s love and grace.
Our members include people who have come from diverse backgrounds.
Our core beliefs are the sovereignty of God, the authority of the scripture, justification by grace through faith and the ministry of all through the community of faith, the Body of Christ.
We stand in the Biblical tradition affirming:
God is sovereign.
God is unconditional love.
Jesus is Lord of our lives.
We are saved by grace, not by our actions.
Our understanding of God’s loving purpose for humanity comes from the Bible, particularly as it is revealed in the New Testament through the life of Jesus Christ. Our salvation through Jesus is God’s generous gift to us and not the result of our own accomplishments.
At Calvary, it is everyone’s job, ministers and lay people alike, to share this good news of God’s love with the whole world. That is also why the Presbyterian Church is governed at all levels by a combination of clergy and laity, men and women alike.
