We love having children at Calvary!
Mark 9:35-37 The Message
35 He sat down and summoned the Twelve. “So you want first place? Then take the last place. Be the servant of all.”
36-37 He put a child in the middle of the room. Then, cradling the little one in his arms, he said, “Whoever embraces one of these children as I do embraces me, and far more than me—God who sent me.”

Having children running around the church, singing, attending Sunday school, bringing the cross and the Bible into service, joining the nursery is what we all want! We also want our children to be safe in our church and in our church activities. So, as Jesus said in Mark 9:35-37 we must be servants to all. We need people to volunteer as nursery helpers, Sunday School teachers, youth leaders, and a variety of other things that we are going to be doing in the future. By volunteering to help with children’s programing we are each allowing ourselves to be reminded of the child like faith that we so often lose sight of. We are also doing the work that Jesus commanded us to do to be closer to God.
The state of Pennsylvania requires us to have clearances for all our volunteers that work with children. Whether you volunteer once a year or every week, the same process must be followed. Some of you dread going through the clearance process and some of you are unfamiliar with the computer skills needed, however we have a way to help you! Brenda Brock will walk you through the process of filling out the forms and submitting them. The three-hour on-line course that must be completed can be done in the office with Brenda’s help.
If there is enough interest, times will be offered for a small group of people to get together here at the church and do the on-line three-hour course together. Food and conversation will be provided! Contact Brenda at 724.463.9197 for clearance information.
