Worship Service Including Holy Communion
Sunday, August 4 @ 11:00 am – 12:00 pm
All are welcome to join us for worship, which includes contributions from members and clergy alike who lead us in a weekly expression of our faith.
This Sunday’s service begins a new sermon series “Calvarians – Faith, Love, Hope” and includes the Sacrament of Holy Communion.
The series will focus on how as Christians, we are not primarily defined by our past, but by a future promised day, an unseen tomorrow. It is a day when God mends that which cannot be healed. God reconciles that which is broken. Of course, we see glimpses of it in our lives – that day we have yet to see fully. In the meantime, Christ calls us to serve the least of these who are most important to the kingdom. We, Calvarians, have work to do; we have the cause of Christ to follow, as the Apostle Paul writes, “the work of faith, labor of love, steadfastness of hope.”
The service will include a reading from 1 Thessalonians 1:1-5 and the sermon “Calvarians Work of Faith.”
At Calvary, we want to be a voice in this community that declares that life here in this place matters to the God who fashioned heaven and earth. We want to love this community just as it is because God loves this community. For Calvary to be Calvary, Indiana needs to be a better place because we are here. Otherwise, why would God put us here?
Rev. David J. Hanna will be preaching.
