This Sunday, September 23, we will join together in worship as we continue to explore valuable lessons to have a meaningful life with readings, prayer, song and the sermon A Teacher’s Book: Today based on Ecclesiastes 9:3-10.
In Ecclesiastes, the teacher tells us that one of thing we must do to have a meaningful life is to live fully today because time is precious. This is not a new thought, but it is often one we do not put into action.
The Rev. David J. Hanna will be preaching.
Our worship style is traditional, but always contemporary in spirit, friendly, relaxed, and graciously welcoming. The service includes contributions from members and clergy alike who lead us in a weekly expression of our faith with warm greetings, fine music, a children’s sermon and sermons aimed at helping us understand how the teachings of the Bible can be applied to our lives today.
Following the service we welcome all to join us in the Chalice Room, next to the Sanctuary for refreshments and fellowship.
Summary of Sermon Series “A Teacher’s Book”
The sermon series explores the Book of Ecclesiastes, which teaches us valuable lessons to follow to have a meaningful life. Life, its meaning, is like holding smoke; it is fleeting. So the author’s basic approach is to use the Teacher to talk about ways we seek to find meaning in the world around us apart from God. To this end, the Teacher engages in a lifelong quest for a meaningful life, and discovers some of life’s lessons and shares them with us.
