On Sunday, February 24, we join together in worship with prayer, song, a reading from Genesis 45:3-11, 15, Luke 6:27-38 and the sermon “Higher Love.”
In a world of romantic notions of love, it is easy to lose sight of the complex and deep meaning of love in biblical writings and in the words of Christ. Love is far from easy and requires from us a willingness to set aside our very human, and very broken, sense of self-serving justice and to replace it with a love that transcends the hurts, the disappointments, and all those messy things that divide neighbor from neighbor. From Joseph to Jesus, we hear the words and observe the actions of a love that simply won’t bow down to vengeance.
Student Pastor Ben Fitzgerald-Fye will be preaching.
Following the service we welcome all to join us in the Chalice Room next to the Sanctuary for refreshments and fellowship.
About Worship at Calvary
We welcome newcomers and visitors to join us for worship, which is traditional in style and contemporary in spirit, friendly and graciously welcoming, relaxed and engaging. The service includes contributions from members and clergy alike who lead us in a weekly expression of our faith with warm greetings, fine music, a children’s talk and sermons aimed at helping us understand how the teachings of the Bible can be applied to our lives today.
We look forward to seeing you on Sunday!
