Children and youth are an integral part of Calvary. From participation in worship with a children’s message during our Time With Young Disciples to Christ-centered learning and activities, our children and youth support each other in a safe, loving environment and build lasting friendships — there’s always a strong connection to be made here.
Calvary Kids
Using Growing in Grace and Gratitude, a curriculum rooted in the foundation of Presbyterian identity where God’s grace and our gratitude are the heartbeat of our faith, life, and worship, children will receive an invitation to discipleship through the reading of Bible stories, fun activities, prayer and singing. This curriculum inspires children to learn and practice hospitality, generosity, and love; and reaches beyond Sunday morning, encouraging children to live their lives as an expression of God’s grace.
Directly following class, children may stay for Children’s Choir rehearsal at 10:15 a.m.
Youth Study Group
Youth in 6-12 grades and their leaders will embark on a journey for meaning and identity each Sunday morning from 10:00 – 10:45 a.m. in the 3rd floor youth room. The Generation Why curriculum used for this class encourages youth to ask hard questions and helps them encounter Scripture in search of answers. In a time of violence, injustice, materialism, and new pressures, Generation Why offers a different point of view.
Youth Group
New or veteran, our doors are open to you! We meet twice a month–once for a service project and a second time for a purely fun event! We hope you find the atmosphere among us to be relaxed, welcoming and engaging so that you feel comfortable to explore your faith, released to discover and use your talents to serve, and free to have FUN! For a 2018-2019 schedule of events, please contact Tracee Denlinger, Director of Christian Education at dce@calvarychurchpa.com.
Church Family Fun Events
Periodic events such as caroling, hayrides, movie nights, special trips, or picnics are planned with our extended church family in mind. We always welcome newcomers to join us in these casual fellowship activities.
Chancel Choir
The Chancel choir invites high school students to participate. An uplifting opportunity to raise voices to the glory of God! All adults and high school students may join. No experience necessary! More information is available on our music ministry page.
Youth Ensemble
Youth in grades 6-12 are welcome to share their musical talents through song and instruments by joining this ensemble’s rehearsals on Sunday mornings from 9:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. Meet us in the youth room, and we will decide where to move from there!
Children’s Choir
Children in grades kindergarten through fifth grade are invited to share the gift of song! Join Calvary friends for this musical lesson and performance prep time right after Christian Education on Sunday mornings.. More information is available on our music ministry page.
Parents’ Night Out
Parents’ Night Out is not only an opportunity for parents to enjoy adult-only time with each other or friends, it is also a wonderful opportunity for the children of our church to join together as friends for an evening of fun. Children age 3 through grade 5 are entertained with a variety of activities including games, crafts and a theme-related movie. In addition, dinner is always served. Registration is required so watch for announcements!
(June through August – There are no classes for children and youth nor Choir activities.)
