Come and enjoy the service with many wonderful touches of Rwandan worship and music.
A special fellowship hour will be offered following this meaningful service and will include a celebration of the 300th Anniversary of the Synod of the Trinity.
During the service, Seminarian Ben Fitzgerald-Fye will deliver the sermon, Consciousness of Nations.
The prophets of the Old Testament serve many purposes: they preach, they prophesy, and they watch the world through the eyes of a consciousness that speaks to nations and to the church. When a prophet says, “woe to,” we would do well to pay attention. “Woe,” is spoken to those who scatter or destroy God’s sheep and we are living in a time of scatter and of destruction in the wake of our differences. Yet, Jeremiah also speaks of a future hope, of a just king. So it stands that Jeremiah, like other prophets, functions the consciousness of a nation. Today, amidst the scattered sheep, we lack prophets but we, the church, can still act as a consciousness modeled on the work of prophets and on the example of Jesus Christ who also uses the word, “woe,” a few times.
