This Sunday, September 9, we begin the morning at 9:30 a.m. with a Fresh Start Breakfast to kick-off our fall Christian Education classes. Then, at our 11:00 a.m., worship service, we will continue the sermon series A Teacher’s Book.
Rev. David J. Hanna will deliver the sermon A Teacher’s Book: Together based on Ecclesiastes 4:7-12:
As the Book of Ecclesiastes tells us, the fact is the world around us is full of “solitary individuals.” Why is that? At least three factors contribute to the growing loneliness found in our modern-day culture. Ecclesiastes’ Teacher gives us a life lesson about dealing with loneliness.
Summary of Sermon Series “A Teacher’s Book”
The sermon series explores the Book of Ecclesiastes, which teaches us valuable lessons to follow to have a meaningful life. Life, its meaning, is like holding smoke; it is fleeting. So the author’s basic approach is to use the Teacher to talk about ways we seek to find meaning in the world around us apart from God. To this end, the Teacher engages in a lifelong quest for a meaningful life, and discovers some of life’s lessons and shares them with us.
Following the service we welcome all to join us in the Chalice Room, next to the Sanctuary for refreshments and fellowship.
