This Sunday, October 7 at 11:00 a.m. we celebrate World Communion Sunday and begin a new sermon series Assembly Required.
The first Sunday in October is designated as World Communion Sunday, which celebrates our oneness in Christ with all our brothers and sisters around the world. Paul tells us that we are to “discern the body” when we partake of Holy Communion, mindful that we note our relationship to all our brothers and sisters in Christ in the celebration. In the new sermon series we will be focusing on how as we gather to worship God, we are welcomed by the love of God. That same steadfast and holy love sends us out into God’s beloved and broken world to make a difference. To do so, some assembly is required.
This week we will join together in worship with readings, prayer, song and the sermon Assembly Required: We Choose Love based on a reading from 1 Corinthians 13:1-13.
As we celebrate World Communion Sunday, may we remember when we assembly, the love of God welcomes us. It is in this place that we remember best how God’s love welcomes us. Following the way of Jesus, we choose love; we choose welcome.
The Rev. David J. Hanna will be preaching.
All are welcome to join us following the service for fellowship and refreshments in the Chalice Room next to the Sanctuary.
