This Sunday, June 17, our worship service will be held at 11:00 a.m. and continues the Sermon Series At the Table. A summary of the series is available at the end of this article.
We hope you will feel welcome in our community of faith where we worship God and love all. Our worship style is traditional including warm greetings, fine musical contributions and contemporary sermons based on Scripture.
Rev. David J. Hanna will deliver the sermon At the Table: Grace based on Luke 14:15-24 – the Parable of the Great Banquet.
In Jesus’ story, we need to remember the dinner party is a metaphor for God’s kingdom. What Jesus is really talking is why some people share in God’s kingdom, and why some people don’t. But, we also need to remember, at God’s dinner table is grace.
Following the service, we invite all to join us in the Chalice Room next to the Sanctuary for fellowship and refreshments.
About At The Table Sermon Series
We like our potluck meals.
We enjoy our cookouts and BBQs. We look forward to our summer picnics. We celebrate special times of the year and holidays with food.
Some of Jesus’ best stories are about being at the table. There are the stories of the loaves and fish, bread and wine, Mary and Martha, tax collectors and Pharisees. Of course, there is the story about the banquet when everyone backed out of their invitation.
Throughout the Gospels, it seems Jesus was either going to or coming from a meal table. For our next sermon series, we will consider the lessons we learn at the table with Jesus.
