Your Calling Awaits
At the core of our Presbyterian way is the belief that the people of God are called to be leaders. In our form of government, church members have the privilege of choosing leaders who will guide them. We encourage all active members to recommend potential leaders, including themselves.
Please carefully consider individuals who you believe have leadership qualities and a commitment to the life and ministry of this congregation. We are looking for you or your recommendations for individuals who will serve and make an impact in the roles of Elder, Deacon, or at-large members of the Congregational Nominating Committee.
To submit a recommendation, please fill out the nominating form. The details for the leadership positions can be found in the form.
Who can serve as an Elder or Deacon of Calvary Church? Candidates must be church members actively involved in church life.
How are nominees selected by the Nominating Committee? The Committee reviews recommendations and creates lists of nominees. These lists are then presented to the congregation for approval in April.
Who can submit a recommendation? Any member of Calvary Church can suggest other church members.
Can I recommend myself? Self-recommendation is welcomed. If you are interested in serving, please nominate yourself.
Can I recommend multiple individuals? Multiple recommendations are allowed. When recommending someone, please consider discussing your recommendation with the candidate to gauge their willingness and ability to serve.
What is the time commitment for an Elder or Deacon? On average, expect to dedicate around 4-6 hours per month, although the actual time may vary based on the individual and ministry area. Elders and Deacons must attend monthly meetings and participate in committee work.
Is training required for newly elected officers? Yes, before being ordained and installed, Elders and Deacons participate in a two-hour training session.
